What's new

• David Adams, 44, took over as superintendent this summer. He replaced James Peck, who retired after more than 10 years. Adams previously was the principal at Shelbyville High School. Before that, he was principal at Triton Central High School and assistant principal at Greenfield-Central High School and Triton Middle School.

The new job is Adams' first as a district-level administrator.

Tom Zobel has been named the new principal at Shelbyville High School.

• Shelbyville High School is undergoing a $34 million project to renovate the 1958 building. Most work will be outside the building until the spring semester, when temporary classrooms will open in the auxiliary gym.

Oct. 25-26 -- Parent-teacher conferences, students dismissed early.

Oct. 27-28 -- Fall break.

Nov. 2 -- Professional development, half-day.

Dec. 21 -- End of first semester

Dec. 22 -- Christmas break begins.

Jan. 4 -- School resumes for teachers.

Jan. 5 -- School resumes for students.

Jan. 16 -- Martin Luther King Jr. Day (no school).

Feb. 20 -- Presidents Day (no school).

March 2 -- Professional development, half-day.
