Beech Grove was named for the many beech and maple trees that thrive on the assorted soils in the area. Beech Grove was founded in 1900 and incorporated as a town in 1906 and as a city in 1935. Beech Grove residents enjoy the benefits of a small town atmosphere with large-city amenities. A mayor, clerk-treasurer and seven city council persons govern the city. All municipal services such as police and fire protections, streets, parks, senior and community centers and other appropriate agencies are provided by the city administration.
