Danville Profile
Danville is the oldest town in Hendricks County and the county seat. It was incorporated in 1835 and named in honor of Daniel Wick, brother of William Wick, who was conducting court in the county at the time. Today, the town's population is approximately 6,500. Housing needs are being met by major housing developments that are extending the corporation's boundaries. A four-lane highway was opened in 1986 to provide a quick commute to Indianapolis. Nationally recognized for excellence in education, Danville has approximately 1,900 students enrolled in two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.
