Dan Carpenter, op-ed columnist, has been with The Star since 1976 and has worked in various capacities, from police beat to book editor to assistant city editor.
He is the author of the book Hard Pieces, a collection of some of his columns from over the years.
Dan is an Indianapolis native and a graduate of Cathedral High School and Marquette University.
He lives in the Butler-Tarkington area with his wife, Mary, and children, Patrick and Erin.
