Two years ago, Israeli-born Yossef Bodansky
published a little-noticed book in which he coined a remarkably
prescient term: "spectacular terrorism."
Bodansky, director of the House Task Force on
Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, predicted Islamic extremist
groups associated with Osama bin Laden would soon unleash a wave of
terrorist attacks against the U.S. . . .
Tuesday's attacks on the World Trade Center and
Pentagon provide chilling proof of Bodansky's predictions. . .
.
Bodansky makes a strong case that sovereign
governments, in particular Iraq and Pakistan, are aiding the
terrorists with safe haven, travel documents . . . (and) the
technology to deliver weapons of mass destruction. Thus, if Bush is
true to his word that the United States will "make no distinction
between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who
harbor them," it could mean military action. . . .
The United States and its allies must join in a
permanent effort to identify individual terrorists, hunt them down
and arrest them.
